ARA Coral & Invertebrates Acclimation Guide
Impatience can work against us as responsible reef keepers, please take the time to follow these few simple steps.
Corals and Invertebrates
-
Float the container or bag in the aquarium for 15-20 minutes to equalize the water temperature.
-
If you are introducing sponges, clams, scallops, or gorgonians, do not expose them to air. Instead open the container/bag they are in underwater and remove them from the container/bag. quickly close the container attempting to introduce as little water from the bag into your aquarium.
-
If you are introducing other corals and invertebrates, pour half a cup of aquarium water into the container/bag every 5 minutes until it is nearly full.
-
Disgard half of the water from the container/bag. Do not pour the water from the container/bag into the aquarium.
-
Add half a cup of aquarium water every 5 minutes until the container/bag is nearly full again.
-
Remove the coral or invertebrate from the shipping container and place it into the aquarium.
-
Please note that many species of coral may take up to five days to fully open and acclimate to your aquarium. If they remain closed for more than a week try moving them to a different position with different lighting and flow conditions.
Fishes
-
