About Atlantic Reef Aquaculture

Atlantic Reef Aquaculture (ARA), located in the beautiful Florida Keys, is a State Certified Aquaculture Facility owned and operated by coral biologist Dave Lackland.

Our mission is to provide healthy, hardy farm raised marine life directly to environmentally conscious aquarists, hobbyists, scientists, and educators without putting a strain on the reef or the wallet.

Our federally permitted Atlantic live rock and coral farm is 6.5 miles off shore, south of Looe Key. Our site has yielded Atlantic stony corals, (normally prohibited from harvest), gorgonians, corallimorphs(including Ricordea), sponges, bryozoans , feather duster worms, and a myriad of other marine organisms.

Additionally, our on shore aquaculture lab produces over a hundred species of Pacific SPS corals, Atlantic and Pacific Colallimorphs, Aquacultured Atlantic SPS, and LPS corals (on live rock), Atlantic Octocorals(Gorginians), and Zooanthids .

Over the years we have developed relationships with local conscientious collectors. We are able to hand select Atlantic brood stock from alternate ecosystems/rock farms including Gulf live rock sites, Upper Keys nursery sites, and Middle Keys nursery sites.

Our Pacific brood stock has been collected and purchased throughout the years from personal and professional aquaculture endeavors here in the U.S.

At Atlantic Reef Aquaculture we believe aquaria are a beautiful way to encourage love and respect for the ocean. We want to make the coral reef accessible and familiar so others will want to protect it. Our ultimate goal is to inspire conservation through awareness one tank at a time.
